Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame Inducts Three

FRANKLIN, Tenn.—Lew Conner, Willie Gibbons and Bill Greene will culminate their years of their dedication to, and participation in Tennessee golf with their induction into the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame this year.

Lew Conner has served the Tennessee Golf Association for more than 40 years on its active and emeritus board. He is a past TGA President and a past chairman of the Tennessee Golf Foundation. A member of The Golf Club of Tennessee, Belle Meade Country Club and The Honors Course, the highlight of his playing career was qualifying for the USGA Senior Open.

Willie Gibbons served as the head golf professional at Belle Meade Country Club for 32 years. He has won numerous Tennessee PGA awards and served every office in the Section, including President. Willie is a past chairman of the Tennessee Golf Foundation.

Bill Greene served on the TGA board for more than 40 years and during his tenure as Chairman of the Tennessee Golf Foundation its endowment increased 100 percent, twice. Bill Greene is a member at multiple clubs in Tennessee as well as such renowned clubs as Pine Valley and Seminole. During Bill’s tenure as board president, the foundation reached new levels of endowment growth and increases in statewide program participants.

Induction dates for the three will be announced at a later time.

Volunteers Needed for 2010 NCAA Men’s Golf Division I Championship

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—The call for volunteers has begun for the 2010 NCAA Men’s Golf Division I Championship to be played June 1-6 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is co-hosting the event with The Honors Course.

There are a variety of areas where help is needed with commitments for inside work as well as outside on the course. Volunteers can be involved in scoring, spectator assistance, marshaling, hospitality, spotting and many other areas.

The Honors Course has graciously offered a perk for those volunteering for multiple shifts during the week. There will be a summer play date where the volunteers will be invited to play a round at The Honors, one of the country’s finest courses.

Volunteers are needed Monday, May 31, through Sunday, June 6. There is the opportunity to select an area the volunteer would like to be involved in, as well as the day and time available.
